It all began with an introduction.
I merely introduced the building’s owner to the solar company’s consultant. That’s how it all started. We all met for lunch at a nearby cafe, because the consultant was my father and the building’s owner is someone I befriended while the small church I led rented office space in his building.
My liaison role brought about a sizeable solar installation on the building. The solar saved all the tenants money, and the experience ended up becoming my entry into the renewable energy market. It was a side job for me at first.
I worked full-time in ministry, but in time I transitioned into full-time work in the solar market and I developed a passion for clean, sustainable, renewable energy. It is simple logic: make and store electric power where that power will be used.
A dirty old grid isn’t needed as it was in the past. My clients save money and go green at the same time.
I earn a living to provide for my family, and I volunteer in the community leading a non-profit co-op school I started a few years ago.

Over the last 8 years I have gone from newbie to expert.
I have learned far more about the utility market than I had ever thought I would need to know– and as you no doubt have experienced, the utilities do not like to make their services and pricing easily understood!
I sell the highest quality products with the strongest warranties and pair that with excellent regional installers who can provide on-going service support. I can design for simple suburban homes and complex estates.
Commercial solar clients include Pebble Beach Co., Cordevalle resort, churches, and large industrial buildings.
You can be confident that I can design an energy solution to meet your home’s or business’ needs. I won’t design (and sell you) more than you need – that only drives up your costs and would save you less money.
My goal is to design what you need now and in the near future. I will create the best price-performance-savings metric for you.

I hope to help as many clients as possible be as energy independent from their utility as can reasonably be achieved. Clients transition from being “renters” of electricity to “owners” of their power.
They save money, achieve utility independence, and keep the lights on! To that end, I serve the homeowner, the business owner, and the farmer, too.
How does it work? We talk. I understand what you want and need. I get utility information from you. I design the energy solutions, and my strategic contracting partners complete the permitting, installation, inspection, and “PTO” (permission to operate) from the utility.

For more than 35 years, Mark Lauer has worked in consulting, sales, team development, and ministry. As a senior energy consultant, he applies his understanding, gifts, training, and experience to serve his clients as the consummate professional.
